Can foreign nationals buy properties in Egypt?

Yes. People of any nationality are able to own a property in Egypt.

Do I require a visa?

No visa is necessary for the purchase of a property, although you would need a visa to live in Egypt.

Will an Egyptian bank account be required?

An Egyptian bank account is not a requirement when buying a property, however, it would be useful if you choose to rent out your property.

Will I be able to rent out my property?

Absolutely. Property Hotspots Worldwide will be able to advise on the rates you can achieve and help with many other aspects of the rental of your property.

Is it easy to travel to the region from Europe?

Flight times from most of Europe is 4-5 hours. Regular, weekly scheduled flights to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh are available from the larger airports.

Will I need to engage the services of a solicitor?

A reputable, local solicitor is essential. We will be able to recommend one to you.

What guarantees will I have on the property?

Will my new property be furnished or unfurnished?

The choice is yours! We have a range of wonderful furniture packs for you to select from, and will have everything ready for you to walk into. If you would prefer, you can select and purchase your own furnishings, we would be only too happy to advise you on the places to shop.

Would I be able to re-sell before completion?

General advice would be to wait until your transaction is completed before re-selling to maximise your return. However the option to sell is available to you should you decide.

What about home insurance?

Egypt has a number of the recognised insurance companies available to you, all offering very sound policies.
